How to Become DIG?
The aspirants who wish to become DIG have to appear for the civil service examination conducted by the UPSC.
After successfully qualifying the examination, the candidates become the deputy inspector general and undergo the specified training as IPS officer
When the IPS officer accomplishes the training, he or she is appointed as the assistant commissioner of police ASP. Afterward, on the basis of experience, track records and performance, he/ she is promoted to the rank of superintendent of police (sp), and later on to the rank to the senior superintended (SSP), then to the rank of deputy in general.
